“Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.”

(1 Thessalonians 5.16-18 NIVUK)

Weekend of Thankfulness

We have so many reasons to be grateful to God. In the final third of the year we are focusing our attention on how we are thankful to God. This will be the theme in our morning services, reflecting one of values, which is to be generously big-hearted like Jesus.

On 18-19 October we're celebrating in a Weekend of Thankfulness at our church to focus our thankfulness. There will be lots of different activities and events taking place on our premises throughout the weekend. Have a look at the list below to see what's happening.

This is not just for our church, but for anyone who would like to come along and see why we're so grateful to God.

Gallery of Gratitude

Come and see what happens in the groups who use the church premises during the week and the creative ways in which they express their gratitude.

We are also inviting you to contribute something to the gallery - if you are an artist, sculptor, poet, or are creative in any other ways. Contact Nick to book your space.

There will be lots of interactive and fun activities for you to join in with as well.

Video montage

We're going to create a montage of thankfulness where we will record you in a short video where you introduce yourself and tell us in a sentence or two what you're grateful to God for. For example

'My name is Bluey, and I am grateful to God for my family and friends who care about me.'

We'll use these through the weekend, and also put them on our social media.

Labyrinth

Walk around a reflective labyrinth to explore your gratitude to God, and think about how you can express that in your daily life.

This will be highly sensory and interactive for all ages from 1-105.

Concert

On Saturday 18th October we're holding a concert where we are inviting people to come and share their gratitude through music, song, drama or other expressive arts. It promises to be an amazing evening. If you would like to take part please let Nick know.

Sunday Celebration

Our Sunday morning service will be full of ways for us to celebrate God's generosity and express our thankfulness. If you would like to take part, have a word with Nick.

After the service we will have a 'bring and share' lunch down in the main hall, where you can also have another look at the gallery of gratitude.

Bring a friend, it promises to be a special time.

30 days of thankfulness

For the 30 days leading up to the weekend we are inviting you to participate daily in a series of reflections and challenges to help you think about how you express thankfulness to God and others.

You can join in by sending an email to nicklear@mutleybaptistchurch.co.uk and he will add you to the list to receive a fresh thought every day.

Grateful giving

During the weekend there will be opportunities for you to express your gratitude to God by giving to a 'thank offering' - a special way of acknowledging that you have been blessed by God.

We also want to give you gifts to say 'thank you' to you for being a part of this church family and community - look out for these over the weekend.

You can give through our ChurchSuite donation page, by using the card reader or putting cash in the box in the entrance area of the church, and by direct transfer (pick up a leaflet from the pew for details).
